EENT (EYE, EAR, NOSE AND THROAT) DIRECTORATE

Head Of Directorate

EENT is an acronym for Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat. The directorate was named DEENT (that is Dental, ENT, and Eye) in 2001 when clinical directorates were inaugurated.  It was formally DEENT until August 2013 that Oral Health (Dental) Directorate was created.

The EENT Directorate is made up of the following units:
1.        Eye (Ophthalmology) Department with an Optometry Unit.
2.        ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) Department with Audiology Unit, Speech Therapy Unit and Special School for preparing speech and hearing impaired children for integration into normal school system and school for the deaf.

D2 A&B Wards and the Newly created Male and Female/Children Wards at the New Eye Centre are where the directorate admit its medical and surgical cases both adults and paediatrics.

Both Units (ENT and Eye) have separate pharmacy units at their ends.

Poly Theatre and the newly furbished eye centre theatre cater for the surgical cases.

The Directorate services cover all specialist care for diseases and ailments of the Eye. Ear, Nose and Throat.

  • Research and Training Support to the centre in the area of Paediatric Eye care
