Directorates / Eye, Ear, Nose & Throat (EENT)

   

INTRODUCTION
EENT is an acronym for Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat. The directorate was named DEENT (that is Dental, ENT, and Eye) in 2001 when clinical directorates were inaugurated.  It was formally DEENT until August 2013 that Oral Health (Dental) Directorate was inaugurated as a result of the establishment of the Dental School.

The EENT Directorate is made up of the following units:
1.      Eye (Ophthalmology) Department with an Optometry Unit.
2.      ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) Department with Audiology Unit, Speech Therapy Unit and Special School for preparing speech and hearing impaired children for integration into normal school system and school for the deaf.

D2 A&B Wards and the newly created Male and Female/Children Wards at the New Eye Centre are the admitting wards for medical and surgical cases both adults and paediatrics.
Both Units (ENT and Eye) have separate pharmacy units at their ends.
Poly Theatre and the Ultra-modern eye centre with the state of the art theatre cater for the surgical cases.
