FUNCTIONS
In pursuance of the above objectives, the unit among others undertakes the following functions:

· Manages all media and public enquiries about the operations of the
hospital

· Co-ordinates the production of "KATH NEWS," the house journal of the hospital.

· Organizes staff durbars and other events in conjunction with the Human Resource Management Unit
to enhance interaction and information flow between management and staff

· As the Media Liaison of the hospital, the unit undertakes a range of media relations activities to
generate positive publicity and maintain good rapport with members of the media

· Provide protocol and immigration assistance to guests and staff of the hospital

· Facilitates the organization of special events including CMEs in furtherance of the hospital's mandate
and image

· Promotes and co-ordinates donations to the hospital

· Work in concert with the Quality Assurance (Q.A.) Unit to provide avenues for redress to aggrieved
staff and clients

· Co-arranges and co-ordinates activities of all foreign medical missions to the hospital

· Facilitates the organization of periodic free medical outreach programmes in underserved
communities as part of the hospital's corporate social responsibility

DISCLOSURE POLICY

Members of the public especially the press are respectfully informed that the hospital has a strict patients' confidentiality policy.

The Unit's response to request for information about patients will therefore be guided by this policy.
Again request for press interviews or the taking of photographs and films on the hospital premises could be done with the permission of the unit.

The security personnel of the hospital will prevent the conduct of any of the above activities without the expressed permission of the P.R. Unit.
