The Quality Assurance Unit of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital undertook a 2-day workshop on Quality Management in Healthcare. This involved taking number of 70 quality representatives of all the Units and Directorates through a series of topics that would enhance their effectiveness in delivering quality services to all clients of the hospital. The training aimed at equipping the Reps to develop quality management protocols that are unique to their respective areas of work. These protocols will be fully own and implemented by all the employees of the hospital. It is a bottom-up approach in improving the service delivery for the people by the people themselves.

Some of the topics that were covered included the overview of the Ghana National Healthcare Quality Strategy, understanding the quality governance structure, introduction to quality management, science of improvement,  patient safety (safe surgery, waste management, hand hygiene, medication safety, and staff safety), basic quality planning tools, 5 S-concept, quality improvement mentorship, coaching, etc.

At the end of the training, the Quality Reps were able start their specific quality measures/projects that would improve service delivery. These Reps would work with the Quality Assurance Unit to develop, implement, monitor, and improve the quality delivery agenda of the Board and Management of the hospital.

The training was fully supported by the CEO, Dr Oheneba Owusu Danso and the Management team of the hospital. This indicates the full commitment the current Management has on quality healthcare delivery in Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for the citizenry.
