The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital held its inter Directorates/Units Sports Fiesta to commemorate this year’s Republic day celebration at the Opoku Ware School Park on 3rd July, 2017.

The hospital Directorate /Units were grouped into Eight (8) Teams to compete for supremacy in various sporting disciplines including¬† ¬†Men’s soccer, Women’s Spot kick, Volley ball and other non-scoring events like Ludo, Oware, Lime & Spoon and Table Tennis.

The main attraction on the day was the Men’s soccer competition which was characterized by inspirational football skills and spectacular goalkeeping prowess and mind blowing goals that thrilled the spectators.

Team F made up of Transfusion Medicine, Diagnostics, Emergency Medicine and Social Welfare emerged winners in the Men’s soccer competition by beating all their Opponents.

On the road to the finals, Team F defeated Team G, comprising of Surgery, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Heath insurance Unit and main Pharmacy by a lone goal.

The champions playing under the Technical direction of coach Francis Sarkodie, Deputy Chief Biomedical Scientist at the Transfusion Medicine Unit, whacked Team H, made up of internal Medicine, Finance, Oncology and Obstetrics and Gynaecology Directorate by 2-0 to book a place in the finals which they eventually won.

In other events Team E made up of Supply Chain Management Unit, Public Heath, Internal Audit and Biostatics Unit won the Volleyball contest, whilst Team A made up of ICT Unit Child Health, Research and Department Unit, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation also won the women’s spot kicks competition.
